Do you travel?
Quite happily! Whether in the states or somewhere abroad, I’m always up for an adventure. I am based in Boston, MA (yes, Bawstohn) but I’ll travel anywhere, so tell me where your most excellent wedding adventure is and lets discuss!
I noticed on your pricing page that you offer albums, but there are no details. Can I find out more?
Of course! i design albums of all different sizes, layouts, colors, and fabrics. We have faux leather, genuine leather, linen, and other fabrics, all in an amazing array of colors, and with pages that lay flat and don’t curl at the binding. I can design Bride/Groom albums, parent albums, and even albums for your wedding party as a gift. Before your album goes to print, it’s all pre-approved by you, so it’s most definitely a collaborative process!
What do we wear for our engagement session? Should we bring anything?
I have to say—I love photographing engagement sessions! It gives me a chance to get to know you as a couple and for you to get comfortable with me as your photographer. Sessions usually last 1 hour and 30 minutes up to 2 hours, and it’s at the location of your choice. Do you have a special place in mind where you met or have frequented as a couple? If not, I’m happy to make suggestions! You might want to bring a second outfit and any props with the date of your wedding if you’re going to use them for your Save-the-Date cards. Also, most importantly, choose clothing you feel great in.
My uncle Bruce has a good camera and has offered to photograph my wedding. Is a professional photographer really necessary?
I would begin by saying that the wedding industry is rife with horror stories about what happens when a non-professional photographs your wedding or engagement. Cameras and related gear have become more affordable, but unfortunately, having a good camera doesn’t preclude a photography disaster if you’re inexperienced with working in a high pressure setting such as a wedding. So yes, in my estimation, a professional is necessary, and that entails finding the right professional that feels right for you as a couple!
We’re nervous about being in front of the camera. Will you help us?
Most definitely! I would say the single most important thing to remember is that everyone looks better smiling, which people do a little less of if they’re stressed. But have no fear because I will remind you to smile, unless I think the shot calls for something different! Also, I take my cue from the couple, entirely. Some just want very casual pictures and don’t want to have to worry about how they’re standing and where to put their hands. And that’s all ok, too! But I am quite comfortable with giving instruction if wanted.
